what is better to learn, java or python if your going to learn cyber security
Hello, I would suggest to learn Python, if you have two choose between the two. As Python is becoming more used by people that do cyber security, and is growing with large projects running on the language. Peace.
I hate Java so I suggest you to learn Python :D
thanks for info. i appreciate it. another question if you don't mind. Any free online sources to learn python if you know any? codeacademy does count because i cant seem to use it.
Much of cyber security has to do with attacks, that would mean learning Java and C++, as those are common to both the attacks and the attackers. Also, it means dealing with a lot of data scrapping and evaluation, that would mean Java, R, and a huge favorite in Python. I would learn both Java and Python. Java will make you more ready for OOP, C, and C++. These are critical items to learn that Python does not account for. On the other hand, Python is far easier to get a grasp on. Python in data security has a lot to do with informatics. So I would start with this free informatics class and book: http://www.pythonlearn.com/index.php The author is a professor who has written part of the REGEX standards. He is exceptionally well regarded in the programming industry. As soon as you are done, I would take an intro to computer science class that is founded in Java. There are free ones on Udacity and the Stanford SEE site. There may be others on edX and Coursera, but I have not looked at any there for Java. The reason behind this is simple. First, that Python class is a very good foundation but not engineering heavy. It will get you past the basics and does not contradict any good coding practices. Then you complement it with Java classes that are more engineering orientated. This will get you a broader base in programming from which you can build up all the diverse skills needed for cyber security.
also, im using notepad ++, which programs can i use that dont need to be compiled like HTML and CSS and Javascript where i can just start programming. thanks for all the help.
You can write about anything in notepad++. However, an IDE can make things easier.
sorry for the late reply. yeah a ide is easier. thanks.
