Solve x + 8 < 3 and x + 9 > -4. -5 < x < 5 -13 < x < -5 x < -13 or x > -5 no solution
@blondey_315 is the top line the question and everything below it your work?
@GodGirl360 The top line iis the question and below are the answer choices
ok. Lets take this step by step. algebra is basically just a balance. If you add something to one side you have to add it to the other. In x+8<3, you want to isolate the x. that means get rid of the 8, so you have to take the opposite of what it's doing(addition) and as i mentioned earlier you have to do it on the other side as well. So what's the answer to x+8<3?
@blondey_315
hm... you would have to take 8 from both sides correct?
yes @blondey_315
soo x<-5
Great! Now do the same thing with x+9>-4
x+9>-4 -9 -9 x>-13
Awesome! Do you have anything else you don't understand @blondey_315?
Thank you! and I do if you don't mind!
Ok, what is it?(thnks for the medal)
No problem! and here it is~ Solve 3n + 11 < 17 or -3n > 12. Which is the best description of the solution set? n < 2 or n > -4 n < 2 or n < -4 n < 2 n < -4
For 3n+11<17, just do what you did in the last problem and subtract. Then you'll have 3n<6. 3n is using multiplication, so you need to use division.(and be sure to use it on both sides)
For -3n>12, just do division again and be sure to remember to mind the negative sign. (-+-= posistive, +++=Positive, -++= negative)
okie soo 3n<6 3/n 3/6 n < 2?
You got that right @blondey_315.
-3n>12 -3/n -3/n -n > -4
Remember -+-=positive. So when you took -3n/-3, you should get...
n?
yep, anything else you need?
@blondey_315
ehh hang on!
Solve 4x > 36 and x + 5 < 8 3 < x < 9 x < 9 or x > 3 9 < x < 3 no solution I think i know how to do this one but it helps to break it down!
