OpenStudy (catlover5925):

ok divide that number by 2 and you get 1113.5 now subtract 5 and you get1108.5 which is the smaller ship but that diffrence needs to go on the other one, so take 1113.5 and add 5 and that will be your longer ship

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's incorrect

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

\(1.\) let the length of first ship be \(a\) let the length of second ship be \(b\) \(\large\tt \begin{align} \color{black}{a+b=2227\\~\\~\\ a-b=5\\~\\~\\ }\end{align}\) find \(a\) and \(b\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add the two equations to get 2 a = 2232\\ a =1116

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=a-5=1116-5=1111
