What is the solution to the equation? 1 - z/5 =9 A. z = 50 B. z = 44 C. z = –2 D. z = – 40

OpenStudy (141823):

We can rewrite it as 1- 1/5z = 9 Subtract the 1 on both sides -1/5z = 8 Multiply both sides by -5, so we end up with z as a whole z = -40 So, D is the answer

OpenStudy (141823):

It wasn't necessary to rewrite it as 1/5z since they mean the same thing, I'm just used to seeing a coefficient
