I don't know but I know that the most valuable natural resource of the Northeast is its waters so maybe river has something to do with it
@lovekitty actually, the majority of the rivers were in the South. That is why the South primarily used steamboats for transportation and the North used railroads. (so now you know b is incorrect!)
