what is 8 3/4 divided by 2 1/6? express in simplest form.

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

To divide fractions, first change each fraction to an improper fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that would be 32/4 and 6/13 i think

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

6/13 is right, for 8 3/4 remember to add the 3 to the numerator too, so it'll be 35/4

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

So you'll have 35/4 divided by 13/6 (sorry forgot to mention that)

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Then change the problem to multiplication by finding the reciprocal of the second fraction (which was your 6/13). Then just multiply both the top numbers, and then both the bottom numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk thanks u so much

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Your welcome :) and then just remember to simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be 4 and 2 over something i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kobeni-chan i dont know what the bottom number is or i got the top number wrong but i think its 4 and 2/something? im confused

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Ok so I multiplied them and got 210/52. (35 x 6 = 210, 4 x 13 = 52) then to simplify, I divided both numbers 210 and 52 by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 4 2/52?

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

I think so.

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

yeah
