Hello :) question/suggestion about the owl competition voting system Why can we only vote for one owl? Why not make it so each person can vote for 10? What if everyone voted for the same one owl? Then we wouldn't have the 9 others! We should be able to vote for ten :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Where can we vote?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

http://openstudytutorials.weebly.com/

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

There are too many

OpenStudy (aripotta):

do you see what i mean? or am i being unreasonable?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i feel like voting for ten would insure that ten get picked for the win

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well it is the Top 10 So I think who ever gets the most votes and so on.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

will get 1st place and so on

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ok so if 100 people voted...and they were only able to vote for one...and those 100 people, collectively, only voted for 5 owls...what happens to the other 5 that were supposed to win

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

But we would need to ask @Abhisar .He manages the website and all

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

True @AriPotta

OpenStudy (aripotta):

that's why i suggest we should be able to vote for 10 owls. that would ensure that 10 owls win

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i hope i made sense?

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

what is an owl? I mean i know what the animal means, but what do you mean? @AriPotta

OpenStudy (aripotta):

there was an owl-making competition that ended today. voting starts today and the winners are announced on the 20th

OpenStudy (aripotta):

there are supposed to be 10 winning owls. but i think the voting system that's in place now will not guarantee 10 owls winning

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

winning for what?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

the competition..

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

you can vote multiple times

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

yes but what do you vote for?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i tried voting a second time and it said "Thank you, we have already counted your vote."

OpenStudy (aripotta):

you vote for the owl you like

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

what is the competition for?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

owlfred's best friends..

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

*facepalm*

OpenStudy (aripotta):

were able to vote a second time without that comment popping up?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

were you*

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

http://prntscr.com/5ffvwk I just pressed terurn to poll

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

return*

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i've tried 3 times after my original vote and that comment pops up

OpenStudy (aripotta):

even when you push "return to poll" and vote, the comment is still there

OpenStudy (aripotta):

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

were do you vote?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i've already posted where you can vote. scroll up.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

How about everybody picks the ten owls they like best. They vote for ten owls. Then we can arrange it.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

that's what i was trying to suggest. if everybody has the ability to vote for their 10 favorite owls, then 10 owls are guaranteed to win

OpenStudy (aripotta):

@preetha what do you think?

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Hmm I understand... It makes sense

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Better to make sure you have 10 winners than ending up with only 4 or 5

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I am sure they will not have ten winners.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Unless almost every owl gets one vote.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

What happens with ties.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

30 owls were submitted, so 10 should be able to win. so long as least 10 different owls get some votes. idk how they'll resolve ties

OpenStudy (abhisar):

We restricted the ability of multiple votings to check double voting which could have made the poll biased. Everyone has to vote for their fav owl ryt now and we will arrange the winners according to the number of single votes they get. Be assured about the fact, you think that people will vote for 4 or 5 owls but it's not true. Everybody has quite different choice and thus each owl is recieving votes.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

well it was just a suggestion :) i obviously can't see the poll results, so i was just worried that we wouldn't get the 10 owls
