Jeanine bought a new pair or hiking boots on sale for 25% off the regular price . The following formula describes this scenario: s=r-0.25r r=regular price s=sale price If the regular price was 115, how much did jeanine pay for the hiking boots?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you'd have to multiply 115 by .25 Then you'd get 28.75 You'd then subtract that number (28.75) from 115 So, the answer would be 86.25 Do you see how I got that? o.e

yes thank you

You're welcome :)

another way.....if the boots are 25% off, then that means you paid 75% 75% of 115 = 0.75(115) = 86.25
