Jeanine bought a new pair or hiking boots on sale for 25% off the regular price . The following formula describes this scenario: s=r-0.25r r=regular price s=sale price If the regular price was 115, how much did jeanine pay for the hiking boots?

Well, you'd have to multiply 115 by .25 Then you'd get 28.75 You'd then subtract that number (28.75) from 115 So, the answer would be 86.25 Do you see how I got that? o.e

another way.....if the boots are 25% off, then that means you paid 75% 75% of 115 = 0.75(115) = 86.25
