nevermind the answer is 103.5 sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since 15.35 is the increase you add it to 83.60. You get 98.95. So then you do 98.95-(-4 3/4) using the keep change change method you turn that into 98.95+(+4/34) or 98.95+(4.75) they are both equivalent. You add them and get $103.50

when you do keep change change you change the 2 and components of the expression to its opposite. so - would turn into +. You keep the 1st number 98.95 you change the - to + and the -4 3/4 to positive 4 3/4. And you get 98.95+4 3/4. which equals $103.5
