I really need help with symbolization. I don't need full sentences or paragraphs, just some ideas please.

What does the symbol mean in the real world? What is the significance of the symbol? How does the symbol relate to a factor that affects or shapes the way the character behaves or thinks?

Character: Tom Robinson (To Kill a Mockingbird)
Factor + Symbol (F/S): Society/Gavel (or judge, trial, etc.), Trial/Tombstone (or grave, death, etc), Job/Hatchet (or axe)
