the mass of nickels is 5.00 g, 5.00g, 5.02g, 5.01g, 4.99g, 5.01g, 5.00g, 4.98g, 3.75g, 5.00g, 4.99g, 5.02g, 5.01g. Remove the outlier and determine the change in the standard deviation of the mass of the nickels. ( My question is how do you determine which one is the outlier? )

3.75 is the outlier because it is there number that is most different from the other number. it stands out.

alright, so i would remove that then mean median and mode, then mine the mean from the outlier? @stefandus
not to sure on the calculation of standard deviation but all i know is that you would then remove 3.75 from all your calculatons
