If the perimeter of a rectangle is 14 units and the area is 12 units, what are the dimensions of the rectangle? The answers are: A. 2x6 B.3x3 C.3x4 D.1x12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, perimeter is just the addition of all the sides. 2 sides are gonna have the same length, and the other two sides are going to have the same lengths. What two numbers can you multiply together to get 12, and also can add together to get 14? You can automatically rule out C, because rectangles don't have all congruent sides. So, you're left with A, B, and D. You can rule out D because 12+12+1+1=26 and not 14. So, you're left with A and B Now, out of the two of those answers, can you choose which one is correct? ^^Do you understand, or am I making no sense at all? o.e
