What is the value of the function when x = 1?

@mathmate

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

What I would do for this problem is figure out the equation of the line first, then substitute for x, 1.

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

Pick any two points on the line. Tell me its rise/run (or in other words, its slope.)

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

Also, what is the y intercept? It is between -1 and -2

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

From looking at it, what can you guess it is (the y-int)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -1.5

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

yes. thats the x intercept. whats the slope of the line using rise/run?

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

y intercept*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know

OpenStudy (britanyashton):

rise over run. m=y2-y1/x2-x1 sorrry i was helping someone. pick two points and plug them into this equation to find the slope any two points.
