In "A Cub Pilot," why does the author say that the Mississippi is "fickle"? 1. The river is constantly changing. 2. The occupation of a riverboat pilot is not always satisfying. 3. The relationship among pilots is often difficult. 4. He is angry at the Mississippi for flooding.

Fickle means changing often so I think it's 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Oscarmenot is correct because (a) I've read "A Cub Pilot" and (b) fickle does mean ' changing constantly.'
