Medal and fan for anyone who can help me with some really tough math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@perl

OpenStudy (perl):

which number would you like help with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhmm i was hoping 8,9,and 10 :D if possible:)

OpenStudy (perl):

lets start with number 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 8 i got false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but m not 100%

OpenStudy (perl):

lets look at a theorem. "Given a nonzero polynomial P(x), if P(a) = 0 then (x-a) is a factor of P(x)" so here we want to check P(-3) , if P(-3) =0 , then ( x- (-3)) is a factor of P(x) note that ( x - (-3)) = x + 3 thats why I picked P(-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sure

OpenStudy (perl):

P(-3) = -144 , and since P(-3) is not equal to zero, therefore ( x - (-3)) is not a factor of P(x) , or (x +3) which is equivalent to ( x - (-3))

OpenStudy (perl):

so you are correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok good i did learn something :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so can we look at 9 please

OpenStudy (perl):

if f(c) = 0, that is an x intercept
