OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

If 1 recipe needs 2 1/3 cups of flour then 3 1/2 recipes will need 3 1/2 times 2 1/3 cups of flour. Now you need to multiply 3 1/2 by 2 1/3. It helps to first convert both mixed numerals to fractions before multiplying them.
