Scientific notation simply refers to the number of trailing zeroes. You measurement is in "nm", nano referring to .000000001 m (9th place after decimal) So, to write in scientific notation, we use the number we're given: 2.24 We multiply by a power of 10: x 10 ^ And the power is the number of places up and including the first non-zero value: 9 And the power is negative, because the zeroes are after a decimal. Therefore: 2.24 nm = 2.24 x 10^-9
2.24 nm = 2.24 x 10^-9
