Margo purchases bulk teas from a warehouse and marks up those price by 20% for retail sale. When teas go unsold for more than two months, Margo marks down the retail price by 20%. She says that she is breaking even, that is, she is getting the same price for the tea that she paid for it. Is she correct? Explain WILL GIVE FAN AND MEDAL

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Wrong, wrong, and more wrong. Start with $100.00 Mark that up 20% -- 100.00 * 0.20 = 20 and thus $100.00 + $20.00 = $120.00 Mark that down 20% -- 120.00 * 0.20 = 24.00 and thus $120.00 - $24.00 = $96.00 Don't guess, Silly Margo. Do the math!!
