the square root of any positive integer that is a perfect square is an irrational number? true or false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, no way. Do you know what an irrational number is?

Miracrown (miracrown):

The square and the square root are inverse operations \[\sqrt{x ^{2}}\] So the idea is we have some perfect square and we can call that x^2 So then the square root of that is s x And an irrational number would be the square root of a prime number like root 2 or root 5

Miracrown (miracrown):

Therefore, it is false false - because a perfect square has a whole number as the root and whole numbers are not irrational.
