pick 2 points on your graph...(-2,4) and (0,1) we are gonna find the slope by using the slope formula : slope(m) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) (-2,4)...x1 = -2 and y1 = 4 (0,1)...x2 = 0 and y2 = 1 now we sub slope(m) = (1 - 4) / (0 - (-2) slope(m) = -3/2 y = mx + b using points (-2,4)...x = -2 and y = 4 slope(m) = -3/2 now we sub 4 = -3/2(-2) + b 4 = 3 + b 4 - 3 = b 1 = b equation is : y = -3/2x + 1 <== answer is slope intercept form and if you need it in standard form Ax + By = C y = -3/2x + 1 --multiply by 2 2y = -3x + 2 -- add 3x to both sides 3x + 2y = 2 <== answer in standard form
