Please help, I'm seriously lost on this one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

error in line number 4 in the right hand side it will be 28x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@BrambleClaw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well thanks, but can you tell me why that is? If you just leave me with that, then I won't understand how to do this sort of thing in the future, and then end up coming back here again :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah because check line number 3 4(7x-1)=4(7x)+4(-1)=28x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@BrambleClaw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distributive property of real number a(b+c)=a*b+a*c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope you can proceed now.. @BrambleClaw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah I think I get it, so is it because 4(7x- 1) should turn out to be 28x - 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah correct..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow, I'm not sure how I didn't see that lol, thank you so much! And also lucky for you, I don't forget about medals :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ha ha ha..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can I ask one more thing about this before I lose you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Obviously

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heh, thanks.... So on line 2, where did 24 over 1 come from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok this is the cancellation law of real numbers If a is not zero Then ab=ac implies b=c They just multiplied both sides by 24/1 which is not equal to 0 so the previous line is equal to this line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh... Okay then, I guess that makes sense, thanks!
