how do we determine if a point or value is a solution to an equation?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, try and think of an example, if you have y=4x+3, what would be a solution, do you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the equation is given and the point is also given, just plug in the lhs the value of x . if you get the rhs, then that point or value is the solution.
