If you're allowed to use notes, then it's ok since the teacher said so. However, the teacher probably did not want you to ask others (students, tutors, teachers, etc). The idea is to take it on your own so the teacher can test what you know.

Though you know, whenever you post question, simply don't say it is from quiz or exam or whatever, and we will simply guide you without any troubles...
