you multiply the numerators and then multiply the denominators, for example: \[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }\times \frac{ 1 }{ 5 }=~\frac{ 3 \times 1 }{ 4 \times 5 }=~\frac{ 3 }{ 20 }\]
