HELP PLEASE WILL GIVE FAN AND MEDAL!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Matteo is centering a poster on the back of a door that is 32 inches wide. The poster is 18 1/2 inches wide. How far from the edge of the door should Matteo hang the poster?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18 1/2 is a mixed number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohk, this one can be got off. See over here, we first find the mid point of the width allright? width of the door I mean. its 16 apparently.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, 16 being the centre, we place the poster and allow equal distribution of its space (poster width) on both the sides of the 16 inch mark.

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

@jazelly_ please note that 18 1/2=\[18+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }=\frac{ 37 }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, so now 18.5/2 on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

32=18.5+2x

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

@M_A that's right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jazelly_ - Im sorry with the last one, thats why I deleted. I believe, @M_A is right :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 32= 18.5 + 2x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yupp.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhilash11 no its okay thank you for helping anyways :)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

as @M_A wrote, yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to write a sentence from the answer ,how should i write it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My bad towards the end. Thankf or the support! :-D

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

@jazelly_ I think this: "Matteo has to hang his poster x inches form each edges of his door" whre x is the value already calculated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!! @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

@jazelly_ thank you!!
