How do nation-states promote nationality? Please help

Nation state is a sovereign state whose citizens or subjects are relatively homogeneous in factors such as language or common descent. So if every one spoke the same languages and had the same cultural we would feel as one. For example there is not a lot of diversity in China, thus Chinese are very strong minded about their motherland.
