Which of the following is the equation of a line parallel to the line y = 4x + 1, passing through the point (5,1)? 4x + y = -19 4x - y = 19 -4x - y = 19 4x + y = 19

OpenStudy (aaliyahfairgood):

make sure you get the variable y alone on one side of the equation, as a positive variable

OpenStudy (aaliyahfairgood):

do you need me to show you how to do that though

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

It would be 4x - y = 19 as they must have the same slope to be parallel. this is the only equation where y=4x

OpenStudy (aaliyahfairgood):

well, lexi won't learn that way no offence though some people get offended

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

pretty sure that's up to her to decide. I give a brief explanation that should really be understandable.

OpenStudy (aaliyahfairgood):

I know I was just trying to see if she understood how to solve it
