For any given x value in (x,y) there can be one and only one corresponding y value
a isn't a function because when x = 1, the y is 3 and 5 c isn't a function because when x = 2, y is 3 and 4 and d isn't a function because when x = 0, y is 0 and 2, and when x = 2, y is 2 and 4 so it has to be b
