When we say "section" in geometry does it refer to the plane figure inside a 3D polygon?

OpenStudy (yamyam70):

Does section ABCD refer to the plane figure ? @UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (yamyam70):

Anyone help

Directrix (directrix):

To my knowledge, yes. I generally refer to it as the "cross section." Eyeballing, I see Quad ABCD as a rectangular cross section formed by slicing a plane through the rectangular solid in a manner perpendicular to the base of the rectangular solid.

@yamyam70 ^^^

OpenStudy (yamyam70):

@Directrix thank you so much for clearing things up! :))

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome. You can do some light reading over at this link to edify your understanding. http://www.mathsisfun.com/geometry/cross-sections.html

Thanks again :)

that's good
