NADPH is used from the light reactions of photosynthesis (the first step of the cycle) to power the Calvin cycle. It uses NADPH along with ATP to convert CO2 into sugar that the plant can use.

it acts as a reducing agent....accepts H+ ions and then via ets..atp is generated from these molecules
