A virus is basically a DNA in a box. It is composed of a protein coating with the head containing the dna. In order to replicate itself it injects its dna into a host cell.
:p look up lytic and lysogenic for information on the life cycles of a virus!
a virus is an ultramicroscopic (20 to 300 nm in diameter) metabolically inert, infectious that replicates only within cells of living hosts, mainly bacteria, plants, and animals: composed of an RNA or DNA core, a protein coat, and, in more complex types, a surrounding envelope.
