Geographers divide the earth into four main halves hemispheres: the northern, southern, eastern, and western hemispheres. The grid system is created by a variety of latitude and longitude lines that create a pattern(grid-like). The Equator establishes the 0 degree north south latitude line and the Prime Median establishes the 0 and 180 degree north south line longitude line.
