What is the difference between es and esta?

Es would be "Is" it's an indication for a state or a condition or a characteristic. Esta would be "It is or it's, at, is, etc" depends on the use. You use it for indication of places. Example: El es un musico = He is a musician El esta ahi = He is there El esta dentro del auto = He's at the car
