Please help me this is confusing "The sum of three consecutive numbers is eighty - four. What is the smallest of the three numbers?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what "consecutive" means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No 😳 if u do can u help me understand the word consecutive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means one after another like 5, 6,7 or 20,21,22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your teacher wants you to write \[n+n+1+n+2=84\] and solve that i wouldn't do the algebra, i would guess and check for example \[28+29+30=87\] so that is too big

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try \[27+28+29\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):
