A pyramid surface area is the sum of a square and 4 triangles
OpenStudy (danjs):
|dw:1418682292026:dw|
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay, can you help me on how to work it out? Do you multiply all of those numbers?
OpenStudy (danjs):
that is one of the sides

I'm confused. How do I work this out to get the answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I need help on #12
OpenStudy (danjs):
You need 4 sides and the base for the total surface area of the pyramid
The base is 10*10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
100 but that's not my answer
OpenStudy (danjs):
here is a simpler way i just looked up

Total Surface area of a square pyramid
1/2 *(perimeter of base)*(slant height) + (area of base)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm totally lost here
OpenStudy (danjs):
perimeter of base is 4*10 = 40
Slant height = 6
Area of base = 10*10 = 100
OpenStudy (danjs):
Area of Pyramid =
(1/2)(40)(6) + 100
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay

OpenStudy (danjs):
20*6 + 100 = 220
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay
OpenStudy (danjs):
The third one can be found the same way
Surface area = (1/2)(4*base Length)(Slant Height) + (base length)(base length)
OpenStudy (danjs):
(1/2) (44)(5) + 11*11
OpenStudy (danjs):
= 231

Okay
OpenStudy (danjs):
so
#1 is C
#3 is D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2 is B?
OpenStudy (danjs):
S.A. of Cone :
pi*radius*slant height + pi*radius^2

Oh okay

OpenStudy (danjs):
yeah i got about 301
OpenStudy (danjs):
so that last #4 must be A
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Can you help with more? They might not be as complicated for you and your a great help
OpenStudy (danjs):
yeah i got 188.4 for the last one
OpenStudy (danjs):
looks like you got the bottom 2 correct, perimeter of a hexigon is 6*side length
Circumference of a circle = 2*pi*radius
