Anyone know how to do this??? John traveled to the ferry office and back. The trip there took three hours and the trip back took four hours. What was John's average speed on the trip there if he averaged 45 km/h on the return trip?

OpenStudy (danjs):

The distance to the office and back is the same distance

OpenStudy (danjs):

On the way back he averaged 45 km/hr

OpenStudy (danjs):

and it took 4 hours

OpenStudy (danjs):

The distance traveled, is 45 km/hr * 4 hrs = 180 km

OpenStudy (danjs):

So the distance is 180 km, and he took 3 hours to cover it. what would be the speed?

OpenStudy (danjs):

180 km / 3hr = 60 km/hr average speed to the office
