1/2 :) i dont really know how to explain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 X 3/8 = 36/8 = 9/2

OpenStudy (radar):

12 divided by 8/3 is the same as 12 times 3/8

First, you must know that when diving two fractions, you always do the reciprocal of the second fraction. Your equation should now look like this, after flipping the second fraction --> 12 x 3/8 = ?. Second step is to solve by multiplying straight across, since when multiplying fractions, having the same denominator does not matter. Your answer should come out to be 4.5 when simplifying 36/8. :)
