Which are the coordinates of the transformed point? (2, -2); vertical compression of 1/2 Question 11 options: (1, -1) (2, 1) (2, -1) (4, 2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am really confused about this one please help @dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

(1, -1) if the factor is 1/2, simply multiply the coordinates to that facotr

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

*factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to multiply (1,-1) to 2,-2?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

if you have (2, -2) and you want to compress it with 1/2 multiply x and y from that coordinate by 1/2 you get 1, -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am still not understanding :(

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

basically if your trying to change the way your graph is stretched or compressed, and they tell you the factor to change it to is 1/2 your basically making the graph compressed 1/2 whatever the factor is just multiply it to the coordinates if you have 2,-2 if they told you the factor was 4 vertically stretched you would get 8,-8 since it's a half here 1,-1

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

more clear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

feel free to tag me into more questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i will :)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

this is (2, -1)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

sorry
