HELP! I told my friend about OS and he wanted to sign up. when he filled out everything it says something like "it appears that your IP address has been banned by moderator due to policy stuff"he tried using different passwords but couldn't! IS there any way to fix this??? @ganeshie8 @Mertsj @Callisto @e.mccormick @perl

OpenStudy (callisto):

@Preetha

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Shouldn't have done whatever got him banned in the first place.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what??? he has never used os before! he's SIGNING up now. He's sitting right next to me now!

OpenStudy (callisto):

It is possible that someone who violated the CoC used the same IP address as your friend does. When we ban that bad guy, he can no longer sign in and sign up using that IP address. That's why your friend is affected. Make sure your IP address is not shared. If it is not shared, then you may ask administrator(s) for help. I've just tagged Preetha here, but you can also send Preetha a private message.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Let him use OS on your computer if he is sitting right there.

Hi, this is Jerry, wr's friend. I have tried using different passwords and I have never used this site ever in my life!! There is no way I am violating the site if I've never used it!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Follow Callisto's advice. Or, try using your phone or iPad which would have a different IP address.

OpenStudy (callisto):

You can stop trying different password because it won't work. We are not saying that you violated the CoC, but someone accessed OS using the same IP address as yours did.

Email abuse@openstudy.com

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Do you have any siblings or cousins?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Your ip address has nothing to do with your email and password. Ip address is unique for each computer/phone/tablet So that means that the computer that you are using right now has been ip banned because in the past you made too many accounts for whatever reason. The best thing would be too just use another computer or even a new wifi. Or try using a phone to make it. Also email abuse@openstudy.com and wait paitently for a reply. They get a lof emails and it take a while for them to reply to them all. Happy OpenStudying, TheSmartOne
