How do I do this problem using elimination? Solve x + 2y = 13 4x + 8y = -9

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

multiply the first equation by -4 then add it to the second equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So -4x-8y=-51 and 4x + 8y = -9. The equation on the left side cancel out. So that means no solution right?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes adding gives 0 = -60 no solution

Thanks!
