remember the order of operation PEDMAS parentheses exponents multiply divide add subtract

do the multiplication first

we do multiplication so it would be 12 - 3 × 3 - 2 then have it to this 12 - 9 - 2 now subtraction from left to right so 12 - 9 which is 3 and we still got -2 so 3 - 2 = your answer
