how do you change a rational number to a decimal
you want to change a fraction into a decimal, because there really is no way to change an integer into a decimal. DO you want an explanation on how to do this in general, or do you have a specific problem that you are working on?
no
Lets say, you have a rational number \(\LARGE\color{black}{ \frac{3}{5} }\) and want to change it into a decimal. we do our division in a table: picture 1. \(\huge\color{black}{ _{_{0.}} }\) \(\large\color{black}{ {\text{_______}} }\) \(\large\color{black}{ 5 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ {\LARGE |}3 }\)
picture 2. \(\huge\color{black}{ _{_{0.6}} }\) \(\large\color{black}{ {\text{_______}} }\) \(\large\color{black}{ 5 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ {\LARGE |}30 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ ^{^{-}} 30 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ {^\text{_______}} }\) \(\large\color{black}{ 0 }\)
See how I am dividing 3 by 5? so when I divide 3 by 5, I get 0.6. That means that a rational number 3/5 can be written as a decimal, 0.6
if you have any questions, please ask.
or, if you need more examples, please please... I'll do it as many times as I can to teach you....
