Suppose a population of 400 crickets doubles in size every 4 months. How many crickets will there be after 2 years? 1,600 crickets 4,800 crickets 6,400 crickets 25,600 crickets

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so the growth equation is \[A = 4000 \times 2^n\] A = new population.... n = number of 4 month periods... so how many 4 month period are in 24 months (2 years)?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

or you can use Period 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 pop 4000 8000 16000 32000 just keep the pattern going

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used scratched paper and did 800 x3 and gave me 2400 and times that times 2 and came up with 4800

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

oops I had an extra zero at the start so use 400 x 2^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coming up with 25,600
