What could we do with the pink equation to solve for x? in other words, to isolate x? Recall that we can apply operations on both sides like add stuff to both sides divide by stuff on both sides , etc ...
Add a 1 to both sides?
Why add 1? Why not 2
So you add 2 to each side?
