Determine whether the sequence is arithmetic or geometric. 7, –35, 175, –875, . . . geometric arithmetic

OpenStudy (loser66):

geo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain so I understand it please

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok,

OpenStudy (loser66):

the arithmetic is defined by the rule: the next term = the previous term + something the geometric is defined by the rule: the next term = the previous term * something

OpenStudy (loser66):

To your problem, I take the second term and consider, it is -35, its previous term is 7, hence the so-called "something" is -5, and 7*(-5) = 35

OpenStudy (loser66):

Try one more, take -35 * (-5) again, it is 175,

OpenStudy (loser66):

do it again, you get the last term. dat sit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I get it now thankyou so much for explaining it to me I really appreciate it

OpenStudy (loser66):

:)
