Write an equation of a line that passes through the point (8, 4) and is parallel to the line y = 4x + 2.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why were we given the parallel line? There is useful information. What is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y-y0 = m(x-x0)\] the pioint is given (8,4) and the line parallel to the given on , then have same "slope" \[y-4 = 4(x-8) \] this equal to \[y = 4x-28\]In the end you can check your result with substitute the point (8,4)
