OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

Are rolling a sum of 6 and rolling doubles independent events? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get for the answer??

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

I said yes they are independent events only because of the fact that it said a sum of 6 and rolling doubles but I wasn't sure if it meant rolling 2 threes or something else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes u are correct!

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

ok thankss!(:

OpenStudy (mrnood):

NO

OpenStudy (mrnood):

double 3 is a six AND a double - so they are not independent

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Independent means knowing something about one will not tell you about the other. However, knowing that you rolled a sum of 6, means that you could possibly have rolled a 3,3

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

so you think its dependent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's definitely dependent

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

ok thanks
