Cathy's Coffee sales small and large coffees. A small cup of coffee cost $4. A large cup of coffee cost $6. On Monday they sale 73 cups of coffee for $354. How many small cups of coffee did they sell? @iGreen

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Do you know if those 73 cups were small cups or large cups?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

small @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

well if you multiply 73 cups times 4, which is the price of the small cup of coffee, that gives you $292. So to find the amount left, you need to subtract $354 and $292. That gives you $62. So now what do you think you need to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really don't know @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Ok, well you need to divide $62 by $6 to find out how many large cups of coffee they sold. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they sold 10.3 @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Right. You probably want to round that down to 10 cups. But I think that's you're answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

np. I gave you a medal for asking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks , @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):
