@jojo4eva
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
well square root means that you multiply a number times itself to get that number. for example, the square root of 36 is 6 because 6*6=36. So all you need to do is take all those numbers in your options and multiply them by themselves and see if they give you 225.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so for the first number i would do 14 x 14 ? correct?
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
yep. and what does that give you?

OpenStudy (k_lynn):
Correct! Great Job!
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
I gave you a medal for asking.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So thats how i do every problem that says evaluate ?
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
Ya, pretty much.

whoa baby. I can do square roots and stuff, but I don't think I've gone over that. Maybe @confluxepic, or @iGreen can help you.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Uhumm xD
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
hopefully, one of them comes to help.
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
@Secret-Ninja if you have time, would you be able to help us?

I can try, just give me minute to read the post.
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
Sure.
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
Thanks

I think that the simplest thing to do its turn it into a decimal, solve it, then put the answer decimal that you get back into a fraction.

81/100 is 0.81 so you solve:
\[-\sqrt{0.81}\]
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
When you get your answer, turn it back into a fraction.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so i just multiply the choices by there self to see which equals 0.81 correct?
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
Yes. But to do that, you must also make the choices decimals.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
This is giving me a headache -_-

Well, doesn't the answer have to be a negative?
OpenStudy (k_lynn):
Can you rule out A and B?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
?
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
A. 10/9 = 1.1 repeated
B. 9/10 = 0.9
C. -9/10 = -0.9
D. -10/9 = 11.1 repeated
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
I doubt that it is A or D...

?
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
B and C both give us 0.81 and both give us a positive 0.81, but we need a negative one.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
C is negative
OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
Yes, but a negative and a negative make a positive.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
? So the answer is?

I would go with C, It would work if only one of the terms was negative.

Thank you
