MEDAL & FAN The table below represents a linear function f(x) and the equation represents a function g(x): Part A: Write a sentence to compare the slope of the two functions and show the steps you used to determine the slope of f(x) and g(x). (6 points) Part B: Which function has a greater y-intercept? Justify your answer. (4 points)

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to know the slope of function when you have 2 points is \[\Delta y /\Delta x \] if you have (x2,y2) and (x1,y1) the result will be ( y2-y1/x2-x1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you take 2 point in the table (-1,-5) and (0,-1) \[\frac{(-5-(-1)) }{ (-1-0) } = 4\] the slope of f(x) = 4 and slope of g(x) is give in equation 4 too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find f(x) you can use with point (0,-1):- f(x) - y1 = 4(x - x1) f(x) - (-1 )= 4x-0 f(x) = 4x -1 you can check the function on the table

How do you give people a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part b :- you can ask your self which function have greater value in specific point. we choose randomly (0,0) :- g(0) =3 and f(0) =-1 then g(x) will be always greater than f(x).

good to mention that two functions g(x) and f(x) is have same slope which mean they are parallel .

oh, thank you !
